Deleting your account
Last updated: 3 August 2026
You can delete your Chefkin account and the data attached to it whenever you like, on your own. It is a real deletion: nothing is deactivated or frozen.
First: take your data with you
Deletion is permanent and we cannot undo it. If your library might still be useful to you, export it first from Settings → Export, as JSON or as a Paprika archive. Afterwards there is nothing to recover.
From the app
This is the quickest route:
- Open Chefkin and go to Settings → Account.
- Tap Delete account.
- Type your email address to confirm. We ask on purpose: a mis-tap and a considered decision should not look the same.
- Confirm. Deletion starts immediately.
Without the app
If you have uninstalled the app or cannot sign in, write to privacy@chefkin.app from the email address you signed up with, asking for your account to be deleted.
We check the request really comes from you and act within 30 days, usually much sooner. We do not ask for documents or reasons.
What gets deleted
Everything attached to your account:
- the account itself: email address and sign-in method;
- your food profile, allergies and preferences included;
- your whole library: recipes, ingredients, steps, versions, tags and collections;
- shopping lists, weekly plans and diary entries;
- the photos you uploaded, purged from image storage too;
- any import files still being processed.
What stays, and why
- Tax and accounting records for subscriptions you paid: the law requires us to keep them for 10 years. They contain none of your content.
- Aggregated usage statistics, already stripped of any reference to you and not traceable back to a person.
- Technical logs, which expire on their own within 90 days.
- The AI processing cache, which is indexed on a cryptographic fingerprint of the source content and contains neither your identifier nor the original text.
The subscription is a separate matter: it lives on the App Store or Google Play, not with us. Deleting your account does not cancel it. If a subscription is active, cancel it in the store as well, or it will keep renewing.
How long it takes
From the app it is immediate: data is removed the moment you confirm, and photos are purged from storage right after. For requests by email the outer limit is 30 days. Encrypted backups rotate and overwrite themselves within 30 days.
