Who we are

Your account

Saving recipes needs an account, which you create with Sign in with Apple, with Google, or with a temporary link sent to your email. There are no passwords to remember or to have stolen.

You must be at least 16. You are responsible for what happens through your account: if you think someone else has access, tell us straight away.

You can try the app without an account, with one trial import. Building a library that syncs requires signing up.

Free plan, Pro and Chef

The free plan limits how many recipes your library holds and how many AI operations you get each week. Chefkin Pro (€4.99 a month or €39.99 a year) removes the library cap and replaces those weekly thresholds with larger monthly quotas; Chefkin Chef (€7.99 a month or €63.99 a year) raises the same quotas further. No plan offers unlimited AI operations: each plan's ceilings are listed on the pricing section.

Prices vary by country and currency: the figure shown at purchase is the one that counts.

The subscription renews itself at the end of each period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before. You are charged through your App Store or Google Play account.

We handle neither payments nor cancellations: both happen in the store you bought from. On iPhone and iPad: Settings → your name → Subscriptions. On Android: Play Store → Profile → Payments and subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal and leaves your plan active until the period you already paid for runs out.

Refunds are Apple's and Google's decision under their own policies — we have no way to issue one. If something broke because of us, write to us anyway and we will at least help you ask.

If we change the price of a running subscription we tell you beforehand, and you stay free to cancel.

Right of withdrawal

As a consumer in the European Union you normally have 14 days to change your mind. Because this is digital content supplied immediately, starting to use the paid features means you ask for performance to begin at once and accept losing the right of withdrawal once it has been fully supplied. The store's own refund policy still applies, and is often more generous.

Your content

The recipes, notes and photos you put into Chefkin stay yours. You grant us only the technical licence needed to run the service for you: storing them, syncing them across your devices, and processing them through the pipelines described in the privacy policy.

We do not publish them, resell them, or use them to train models.

Importing from other people's sources

An import always starts with something you do: you paste a link, share a video, take a photo. We do not crawl sites and we do not re-host videos — we extract the content for your own personal use, inside your own library.

Recipes as such are generally not protected by copyright, but the text, photos and video around them are. By importing, you undertake to do it for personal use and in line with the source's rights and terms. Imported content does not become yours to redistribute.

Nutrition estimates: read this one

Calories, macros and food-scan values are estimates produced by a statistical model, with an error that can reach 20-30% and sometimes more. They are always editable by hand, and you are expected to correct them.

Chefkin is not a medical device, does not diagnose, and does not provide dietary or medical advice. Do not use it for clinical decisions, to manage a condition, or as the only basis for a diet. That is what a doctor or a dietitian is for.

The allergy and intolerance filter works on what the model extracted from the source, and the model can be wrong. It is not a food-safety control: if an ingredient puts you at risk, always check the list yourself.

Fair use

We ask that you do not try to get around free-plan limits, do not overload or probe our systems, do not use the app for anything illegal or to infringe someone else's rights, and do not resell the service.

The service as it is

We do our best to keep Chefkin up and accurate, but we cannot guarantee it is always available or that every import will succeed: it depends on sources and providers we do not control, and AI models get things wrong.

To the extent the law allows, our liability to you is limited to what you have paid us in the previous 12 months. Nothing here excludes liability for wilful misconduct, gross negligence or personal injury, nor any consumer rights that cannot be waived.

Suspension and closure

You can close your account whenever you like from the settings: see the deletion page. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts the service at risk, warning you where that is reasonably possible.

If we ever shut the service down, we would give reasonable notice and time to export your data.

Changes to these terms

We may update them. If a change is substantial we tell you before it takes effect; continuing to use the app after that date counts as acceptance.

Governing law

If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, this contract is governed by the law of the country where you habitually live, and you can bring proceedings before that country's courts.

You will not find a clause here picking some other law, and that is deliberate. The Rome I and Brussels I bis Regulations guarantee you this anyway: a clause naming a different law or forum would take nothing away from you, and would only serve to make you believe otherwise.
